§1Purpose
This English version is provided for convenience; the French version prevails.
These terms govern the use of the Hibi application, a Japanese-learning tool (vocabulary, grammar, kana and dialogues, organised by JLPT level and learned through spaced repetition), published by Hamza Hajjaj, an independent web developer operating under the name Liminal, registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises under number 1020.634.196 (VAT BE 1020.634.196), established in Belgium. Registered address: Place du Tomberg 16, 1200 Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium. By creating an account, you accept these terms in full.
§2Your account
Hibi requires an account. Creation is done with an email address, a display name and a password; there is no login via a social network and no anonymous access. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for the activities carried out from your account, which is strictly personal.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Hibi. If you are a minor, you must have the consent of your legal representative, in particular to subscribe to Hibi+: purchases made by a minor go through Apple’s or Google’s parental controls and require the validation of the account holder.
§3Free version & Hibi+ subscription
Hibi is used free of charge and without advertising. The free version gives lasting access to the first 60 words of the N5 level, to the complete learning of the kana (hiragana and katakana), to the first chapter of the grammar course and to a first dialogue. The daily limit of new words offered in the app is a pacing guide, not a block.
The Hibi+ subscription unlocks the rest of the content: the continuation of the N5 vocabulary, the rest of the grammar course and all the dialogues. The N4 to N1 levels will be added progressively and are included in the subscription; to date, only N5 is available. No security or backup feature is reserved for the subscription.
§4Payment, renewal & cancellation
Hibi+ is offered by subscription via the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android), at the price of 49.99 € per year (about 4.17 € per month) or 8.99 € per month, preceded by a 7-day free trial. This price may vary by region and remains the one shown in the store at the time of purchase. Payment is collected by Apple or Google, and we store no payment-card details.
The subscription renews automatically at expiry, unless renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Management and cancellation are done from the subscription settings of your App Store or Google Play account; Hibi+ access remains active until the end of the period already paid for. Refunds are governed by Apple’s and Google’s terms.
§5Acceptable use
By using Hibi, you agree not to:
- copy, resell or redistribute the educational content;
- attempt to circumvent the limits of the free version;
- disrupt the operation of the service or compromise its security;
- use the app for illegal purposes.
§6Intellectual property
All content (texts, vocabulary lists, grammar sheets, design and code) remains the property of Hamza Hajjaj (Liminal). Your access, free or subscribed, grants you a personal and non-exclusive right of use, without transfer of ownership.
§7Limitation of liability
Hibi is a learning tool provided “as is”. We guarantee no specific result in any exam, the JLPT included, nor uninterrupted availability of the service. To the extent permitted by law, our liability cannot be engaged beyond the amount you have paid over the last twelve (12) months.
§8Changes
We may change these terms, as well as the scope of the free and paid versions. In the event of a substantial change, you will be informed in the app. Continuing to use Hibi after notification constitutes acceptance. For any question, write to us via the contact page.
§9Governing law
These terms are governed by Belgian law. For purchases made on the App Store or Google Play, Apple’s and Google’s terms of use also apply. Failing an amicable resolution, any dispute falls under the competent Belgian courts.
